The "By the Light of the Stars" initiative takes customers of the starred Largo do Paço restaurant to dine al fresco, with exclusive menus, on four dates during the summer. The first is this Friday.
Tasting an exclusive menu created by chef Tiago Bonito under the glow of a starry sky is the motto of the "Starlight" dinners organised by Casa da Calçada Relais & Châteaux. The initiative started last year and its success has led to its return, this time on four dates, always on Fridays.
On the evenings of 2 July, 6 and 20 August, and 3 September, the Largo do Paço dinners - usually served inside the dining room - are held on the terrace of Casa da Calçada, with the River Tâmega and the historic centre of Amarante as a backdrop, accompanied by live music, providing an experience that appeals to all the senses.
A welcome drink at 7.30pm kicks off the dinner - specially developed for each of the dates - consisting of a starter, a fish dish, a meat dish and a dessert. All the moments are harmonised by sommelier David Teixeira, with wines from Calçada Wines.
The meal costs 110 euros per person and can be booked by paying 50 per cent of the total price.The capacity for each dinner is 30 people, so advance booking is suggested and should be made by emailing email@example.com.
